Progress Report #3
At the beginning of the week I was able to send my training lesson to both my brother and friend. My brother was able to complete the training lesson at the beginning of the week, while my friend was able to complete it a couple of days ago. To evaluate my training lesson I have created an assessment for both my brother and friend. The assessment was for both of them to copy a flyer that I created as best they could using the training lesson I provided them. The training lesson took them both around 20 minutes to complete before they began the assessment. The assessment took my brother about 25 minutes to complete and my friend said that the assessment took him about 15 minutes to complete. I incorporated all of the tools that I talked about within the assessment. My brother turned in the assessment first and tried to ask me questions during it, but I told him that I would not be able to help him and that he had to do the best he could. The flyer that he turned into me actually turned out pretty well, so he must have figured it out. When my friend turned in the assessment, his flyer looked almost identical to mine and I wonder if he may have had more experience with InDesign than he said he did. Both assessments were pretty close to mine in the end, but I may need to try out the training lesson on more people to get a better idea about how effective it is.

Progress Report #2
I have my whole Wix site created for the training lesson. I have added several pictures to help viewers see the step by step process of creating a flyer. I also added a youtube video that shows demonstrations of using more tools within InDesign in case my viewers want to go above and beyond. I was not able to have anyone test the training lessons yet and will have to do that over break. I did not know of anyone on campus that would fit my target audience, but do know of a couple of people back home that will be able to try it out. My brother is familiar with how to use Photoshop but has never used InDesign before. He has access to InDesign at his school. Also, one of my friends has worked a little bit with Photoshop and has the InDesign program, but hasn't used it yet. So he will also work perfectly for this project. I will have them test it within the next few days and report on it next Thursday.

Progress Report #1
I began working on my Wix website this week. I still have some work to do on it but I was able to create my home page and begin creating the training lesson. I have decided that the tools I will incorporate in my InDesign training lesson will be the selection tool, type tool, line tool, rectangle tool, the gradient swatch tool and the rectangle frame tool. I will also have to show the learner how to use the color palette, character palette and possibly even the stroke palette. For my test subjects, it would be nice to have 3 people try out my training lesson. I am hoping to find someone with a little experience with InDesign, someone with no experience with InDesign and has experience using a computer, and someone with no experience with InDesign and not much experience with computers either. The only problem I face with doing this is that I don't know anyone in Macomb that doesn't know how to use a computer very well and I would have to wait till thanksgiving break to have one of my parents try out the training lesson.

Final Project Topic
For my final project I would like to use Wix to create a training lesson. With Wix I will be able to incorporate Youtube videos and blogs. With these resources I will show how to use basic tools within Adobe InDesign CS5 to create a flyer. After my audience views the training lesson in Wix, I will have them recreate a simple flyer that I will provide for them. This way I can test to see if they understand how to use the tools in InDesign.
